Hello all,
I 've just got my new DWA-160 yesterday,and I have all settings the same requirement as the Moderator post (For 300 Mbps),the router is DGL-4500.But I only see the connection speed is 270 Mbps.Is this normal or something else do I need to do to fix that?Thanks

270 Mbps is not bad.. It could be wireless environment preventing you from reaching 300 Mbps such as mirrors, thick walls, cordless phones etc..

Yes I did follow those instruction,5GHz ,AES WPA2....ect .In my area there are no wireless N around,my 5.8 Ghz phone is far away.The adapter and router only about 4 feets apart .Thanks

FWIW my DWA-652 almost always had a connect rate of 300Mb while my DWA-160 tops out at 270Mb.

Now where's that 2.4GHz/5GHz a/b/g/n cardbus adapter D-Link?!  Too many issues with USB not fitting various laptops!!!

You're lucky.  I'm one floor down from my DGL-4500, and my DWA-160(A1) connects at 40Mbps/12% Signal.  Yay for the $$ I spent on this stuff.

I bought three DWA-160 (A1) adapters a few months ago to connect to my DGL-4500 @5ghz.

This replaced my old Belkin N1 router and Belkin wireless-N cards.

My main PC runs Vista x64 and is one floor down from the router in a small house.  I used to get "Good" to "Very Good" connections with my old Belkin setup.

Now with the new Dlink setup, I get "Poor" and "Fair" connections.  According to the router, the best connection I've seen is "40Mbps, 12% Signal".  I get disconnected randomly at least a dozen times a day or so.  I am not in a populated area with a lot of wireless traffic.

Yes, my router is set to "Auto 20/40 Mhz".  Yes my Router is set to fixed "802.11n Only".  In the adapter preferences, I disabled 2.4ghz completely, and am running only 802.11n on the 5ghz section.

Right after I bought my DWA-160, I noticed there was a new "Rev-B" folder on the Dlink FTP site.  Now I come here and see many others with issues with the A1 models.  A1 and Rev-B model chipsets are made by different manufacturers...sounds fishy to me.

Can we RMA the A1 models for Rev-B models?  What is up with quietly replacing faulty hardware with a completely different chipset?

I am running WPA2/AES.

What wireless utility are you using? D-Link or the windows wireless utility. I find using the Windows utility much better than the D-Link utility and I'm trying to get this issue fixed through our PM group. If you're using the D-Link utility, try uninstalling the software and re-install the latest drivers ONLY without running the setup file.

I am only running the drivers (dwa160_drivers_110.zip).  I didn't install the Dlink utility.  Installed manually through Device Manager.

My issue is not entirely the fault of the DWA-160, but the ****tastic wireless performance of my DGL-4500(v1) router.

Never got my issue resolved.  I contacted D-Link support who told me that I shouldn't be using 5Ghz because its not meant to be used indoors (?!?!!?).  2.5ghz connections are even slower.  After the fiasco that is the DGL-4500 router, I have pretty much given up.  I'm told a new beta firmware for the router fixes things, but am hesitant to upgrade.  First off, the firmwares have been in "beta" for a loooong time.  Second, right on the download page it states that upgrading to the beta firmware voids your warranty.

Anyway, I'm going in another direction here.  No I never resolved my wireless issues with the DWA-160...but the wireless performance of the DGL-4500 router isn't helping it either.

A recent discovery. Setting my router (DIR-625) to only accept b and g clients allowed my DWA-160 to perform at acceptable 11g speeds. ~10mbps.
It seems that the dwa-160 doesn't like n operation...

When I set my router to accept b,g, and n clients but forced the adapter to only operate in g mode only at 2.4GHz, i still had horrible performance.

I would blame the d-link drivers for this type of problem.

btw, my DIR-625 router has the latest firmware 1.09 and performs at 11n speed with laptop integrated adaptors allowing me to rule out the router as the problem... i hope.
