Connection problems
« on: July 06, 2008, 02:38:19 PM »

Alright so I got a new router today iys a dlink dir-655 and im upgrading from a dlink wbr2310. Any who so I connected the new router like i was suppose to following the router setup but it wont connect. It connects but not allowing me to connect to any websites etc. (im using vista) and it doesn't have the globe icon on it its just the normal 2 monitors. Any who so when i connect the old router back It works and has the globe has full internet connection and all that. I had the same problem before with my wbr2310 router but found some command i can do in ipconfig.exe to fix it and let me set it up but now i forgot it. So how would i set up the new router so it connects good?

That's basically what I did was to upgrade from the WBR-2310 to DIR-655.

Did you remember to cut the power from the Cable Modem so the new Router is detected by the Cable Modem? I don't have a Battery in my Cable Modem, so I just disconnected the Power Cord from the back of the Cable Modem, after connecting the Router to the Cable Modem.

That's why after replacing the new Router, with the old Router, the old Router was working, because it is still recognized by the Cable Modem.

Does your Cable Modem, have a Battery Backup?
