Permission issues on 321
« on: December 24, 2010, 01:34:02 PM »

Hi all, I need a little assistance.
I just picked up the 321 and it really rocks.
Problem is.. Say Vol 1 and Vol 2 are wide open to everyone.
If I try to change permissions to vol 2 to lock it down just for me
then both volumes prompt for a user id and password.
Even if I change it back to the way it was both volumes will still prompt.
At that point the only way to squelch the prompt is to click Reset Network Access List.
Either I'm missing something or something weird is going on..
Thank in Advance and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!!

If it's anything like the DNS-323, as soon as you configure access permissions on a share, open shares prompt for credentials. In short open shares and restricted shares can't co-exist without third party modifications.

That kinda sucks. But after reading through 15 pages of this
thread that seems to be the case.
Thanks for the info!
