Changed router, now can't find the DNS 321
« on: December 25, 2010, 10:29:30 AM »

I've just replaced my router, and now I cannot find the DNS 321... I also cannot find my install disks to try and start from the beginning.
Can someone point me in the right direction on how I can find this thing... I'm using a belkin router, and everything was working great before the install of it... so I know I must have some setting wrong.

All of our computers are running vista, I have no issues with any of them, everything is working greaat with the exception that I cannot see the dns 321. help!

Is the DNS-321 connected to one of the ports on the rear of the router?  If so you should be able to login to the router firmware and determine the IP address of the DNS-321.

If you have the IP address, you could map the DNS-321 from one of your PCs as a network drive:
eg: \\192.168.1.3\Volume_1

I had it mapped, using the old router as my Z drive, it now tells them that it cant find it. My old network was setup to use 192.168.0.X where this new router configured everything to use 192.168.2.X. the IP of on my old system was 192.168.0.108 .... but it's not there, and can't see it anywhere... I cant remember was there any software that came with the dns321 to aid in setting up? I know I used to be able to login to it using the ip address, but now it's gone.

There was a disk, but you shouldn't need it.

If you login to your router, the web interface will provide you with the IP address of all attached network devices.  That will give you the IP address to map to from your PCs.

You won't be able to access the NAS if it is on a different subnet to the reset of your network. If you change your network subnet to match the NAS you can access it again, and/or change its subnet.
