DIR 655 Recall
« on: December 29, 2010, 10:16:22 AM »

Does anyone know where I can bookmark a page with information on the Re-call of this router?

I am pretty sure that this router is not under a re-call yet but after the endless amounts of discussions and problems folks have had with this thing it has to be recalled soon right?

I don't want to loose faith in DLink products because like many I have owned them for years and years. A bad release is going to happen sooner or later but if the company does nothing about the problem it is time to move to a new brand. Someone let me know or post a link of a page where Dlink announces recalls. Hopefully I can participate before it is time for me to move on to a new brand.

At the very least when is the next firmware version going to be released? I have tried them all and none of them seem to help. I am well past the stage of troubleshooting because the problems I have like Way to many other people are not being solved by discussions and firmware changes or altering settings.

If you agree join me on this thread for a request to re-call this product!

I cant see a recall happening at any time in any future.....  Sure some folks have had bad units, and some folks have had issues with firmware.... But the math would likely indicate the problem units are a very small percent of the units sold overall....

I have had my A2 unit for a couple years at least and overall it has been pretty stable....Costco still sells the DIR-655 (unless I am mistaken) and that speaks very loudly to me.  Costco pulls items right away if they have enough data to warrant it....

I have never seen any recall of defective computer hardware products.

Laptops were not directly recalled.  Their batteries were!

I have worked on a few HP/Compaq/Dell laptops that should have been recalled...weak-azz power port solder to graphic chips un-soldering because of the heat & cheap solder (think older XBox-360 units)....  There have been a lot of class action lawsuits...but nobody ever seems to admit "wrong doing or crappy designs"

Okay!  There have been recalls when "safety" issues occur.  The D-Link routers are SOHO products and are not truly "mission-critial" router or firewall.  I will not expect a recalls on most SOHO grade routers ever.

Only when they start to explode...... not by software issues...

Anyway, my DIR-655 is working fine, stable and with all the advanced configurations i need, so, no need to recall...

Yea well mine does not work and from the sounds of it... It was a "bad unit" unfortunately DLink will not do anything about it and neither will the store I bought it from. .... Which is why I am a little pissed.

As for the whole never been a re-call ... I can think of monitors, graphics cards and even a few mother boards that have had recalls... oh and not to mention a whole line of Cable Modems that were sent out in the late 90's when comcast was starting their launch of broadband.

I have never seen any recall of defective computer hardware products.

Batteries, that is more computer software

Okay!  There have been recalls when "safety" issues occur.

Dood ... your funny, you kind of remind me of our presidents... they just say stuff that has no real validity and then work around the details later if they have too....

Did you actually call the Tech Support phone number to see if they can RMA your unit?
