D-View Cam - Manual
« on: July 17, 2008, 10:20:49 AM »

Is there a downloadable manual for D-View Cam 1.40?  I've downloaded the software and I'm trying to get it going with a DCS900.

There currently is no manual available however very soon D-view cam 2.0 will be available for download and a manual will be available for this version. You will like D-view cam 2.0 much much more.

Let's try this a different way then.

I've got my camera set up and I can view it in my web browser - how do I get it working with D-View Cam?

The application is installed and I fumbled my way to eMap (in the Admin module), I've added an area, I click add camera and select DCS-900 ver.Bx, enter the ip address that I can view the camera at (I'm using a static ip) and I get an error message saying ...

Parameter setup error: HW account does not exist, or password error

I've tried no password - because I have not set any passwords in D-View Cam and the admin password that I have set on the camera, and which I know works, because I can use it in the web browser.

Make sure you have the latest firmware for the DCS-900 to properly work with D-view cam 1.4

The firmware was updated the day I installed the camera (about 10 days ago) - Ver 3.22 - I just checked to make sure it was the latest, the website shows 3.22 as released on 1/8/2007, but the camera says 2006/11/22.

I just tested the same configuration and it added the camera with no issue. Firmware 3.22 on a Rev B DCS-900 camera as well. Admin and no password. I am not sure what your is doing I have not seen that issue.

I think there is a bug in the application - try this.....

1) Delete the camera you added in D-Cam View, so it's essentially a fresh install with no cameras
2) Set an admin password on the camera, so that when you click on setup in the browser, you have to enter the password to be able to change any settings
3) Try to add the camera in D-Cam View

If I remove the admin password I have set, I can add the camera in D-Cam View, and I can then set the password and still view the camera in D-Cam View, but I cannot add the camera whilst the password is in place.  I don't know if it makes a difference, but the password I am using would be considered a strong password in that it is 8 characters and includes both upper & lower case, numerics and punctuation characters.

Well - I have done any in depth testing, but my problem does appear to be related to password strength - a simple all-numeric password will not give the problem, but my standard "strong" password will.

Hmm, well D-View cam 2.0 is the latest version of software and it should be available on the support website very soon. This should resolve your issue.

Ok - I've downloaded D-View Cam 2.0.2 - only to find I can't uninstall D-View Cam 1.40 - all attempts, either from the control panel's add remove program applet or the uninstall in start programs returns the message "Error reading setup initalization file"

Can I just install the new version over the old?

Try running the installation for D-ViewCam 1.4 again and re-install or use the installer to remove the existing application. Although you can technically have both installed there would be no point in having both :).

Hi ECF,

Has the DView Cam 2.0 being released as yet?

If yes, please do provide to me the link to download it and maybe it will solve my 'connecting' screen problems.

Thanks.
