Bridging connections?
« on: December 29, 2010, 01:25:33 PM »

I bought a DIR-615 that I would like to put into the living room.
I have a DIR-655 that I am also using as the main router.
I want to bridge the connection from the 655 to the 615, but I'm not sure how to go about this.

Here's kinda what my setup is likeat the moment:
modem -> Untangle box -> DIR-655
my roomates computer is on the far side and is hooked up wirelessly.

If someone could point me in the right direction it would be great.

None of these have firmware from D-link to work as a repeater. If you can get DD-WRT on them you can bridge them, hope this helps.

Do you think it can be done with 2 different routers? I have a Linksys WRT54G, that has DD-WRT on it.
I'm going to see how easy it is to put DD-WRT on the DIR-615 by reading the post about it.

Thanks for your help.

I have a 615 c1 and installed DD-WRT  build 14896.  I'm able to use it as a client bridge (LAN only) but it took me a few days and a few angry words coming out of my mouth  ::).  I have the 615 in the living room as a CB and the AP is a Belkin N router.
The only way I got it to work is to set static IPs on the hardware that's connected to the CB (PVR and PS3).
I tried the latest build 15962 and seems to be blazing fast for a few minutes then it would come to a crawling speed and requires reboot of the 615.   I hope someone can work out the kinks on 15962.
