Good experience with DIR-655 after firmware update
« on: January 09, 2011, 06:38:43 AM »

I was previously on 1.32A and my internet connection would seemed to drop out after every couple of days.  I never had to reboot it because it always came back on.  I have version A4.  Also, my wireless printer always had to be reset.

However about 3 weeks ago I updated to version 1.34NA

Firmware   1.34NA   5/20/2010
Fixed: Bsecure Issue.

Firmware   1.33NA   1/28/2010
Fixed: Correct HNAP issue.
Fixed: DNS relay issue ( WAN Slowdown )
Added: Advanced DNS descriptions

I have been up for 3 weeks constantly after updating the firmware, never had a dropped connection, and I have had zero issues with my wireless printer.  I can only assume that the above updates fixed the router.  :)

Was curious on what wireless modes you are using? Mixed?

Yes:

802.11 Mode : Mixed 802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b

Also, my wireless performance has improved and I consistently get my max speed from my ISP on my laptop.

If you don't have any wireless devices that use Modes A or B, try using Mixed G and N. If you dont' have any N devices, it's ok to use single mode G until such time you get something that supports N.

I have not had any trouble with my 655 that some adjustment of settings didn't cure.  A2 with 1.35NA

I just want to say that my Stock Market Real-Time Ticker software only runs properly when my router is set to 802.11n only.   If I change the setting to any other (mixed) the software ceases real-time and reverts to periodic (2 minute) updates.  Since I actively trade every day, this is intolerable as I need true real-time information.

If you only need "n" then set to "n only."

That works too. Saves on broadcasting unused signals too.  ;)
