Can't port forward or use DMZ
« on: January 10, 2011, 01:46:03 PM »

I can't get any type of port forwarding or DMZ to work with this router.

I've checked for double NAT, have a static router IP etc.

I'm using Vista, but I've tried it on a computer with XP as well. I'm using the standard windows firewall, but I also tried disabling it.

I'm using the original 1.10 firmware, I don't know if this is a known issue that was fixed or not.

Anyway, I don't know if you need anymore information. Please let me know if you do and if you have any suggestions.

Thanks.

I had good luck with FW 1.21 (non-BSecure version) for a long time.  Eventually I went to 1.34 and now use 1.35 with good results.

I dont use DMZ myself, but have tested it a few times and it worked as far as I know....

DO NOT change from your Fw 1.10.

I have never heard nor had myself any problems with 1.10.
All of the problems that are associated with the DIR-655 occur from the newer firmwares.

It seems like you are configuring it incorrectly.
Use the search button to find out how to port forward correctly on this router.

I would recommend you check your configuration that your trying to do for port forwarding. Make your you haven't done any typos. Turn off all SW firewalls as they are not really needed if your connecting to the router. You really think hackers are trying to hack your data on your PC? Really?  ::) The router can handle and block most inbound traffic. Your safe.

As for FW updates, "If it works, Don't fix it!"

Hi Happybelly,

After you placed a computer in the DMZ, did you save the setting and reboot the Router? I am answering from the viewpoint of Firmware 1.21 with SecureSpot off. I never activated it.
