Firmware Email Notification
« on: August 17, 2008, 08:39:41 PM »

I'm running a DIR-655 hardware revision A3 router with firmware 1.11.  I've enabled email notification of firmware updates, but I have not be notified that the 1.20 firmware is available.  Does this feature work or is there an issue somewhere that I'm not aware of?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I dont get notified either, i have it sending me the gateway logs so the email part works, perhaps its because its not FINAL release?

No, more then likely the .xml update portion is missing.
I'll see whats up.

I have the router sending me the logs via email also, so no problem there.  When I click on the check firmware update button, nothing happens either.  Just a little more info to the issue I initially posted.  Thanks again for looking into this.

Yeah, don't rush the guy please. It should be reassuring to you that the test are thorough and thus take some time (iterations).
This is not really an essential function...

Lycan,

Here is some additional information on this issue that I discovered today.  Now when I click the button to check for new firmware, I do get a notice on the screen that there is an FW update.  Up until now, this didn't work; I got nothing when I clicked the button.  I have been following the similar link, "New" Firmware Email Notification From DIR-655, and now I have this same issue.  I wanted to provide this additional information, and thank you for continuing to look into this issue.

Lycan,

Hey!  How are things.  I just wanted to be clear as to what is going on with this situation.  I know you are looking into it, and I thank you all at D-Link.  When I click the button to check for firmware updates this is what I get now:

Firmware Information
Current Firmware Version : 1.11

Current Firmware Date : 2007/12/05

Check Online Now for Latest Firmware Version :

Check Latest Firmware Version
Latest Firmware Version :  1.20

Latest Firmware Date : 2008-8-28

Available Download Site : Global

Under the available download site there is only one option, and that is global.  Then I click the download button and get a screen with the following information:

Name:  DIR655A4_FW120B07.bin
Type:   sharpwrapi.wrapiadapter, 1.3MB
From:   wrpd.dlink.com.tw

I know a few others have reported this, and was not clear if this is correct or not.  Thanks for your help.
