thanks for your reply. Sadly I am a pc thicko. It is from my office, they load all the software, but sadly the one tech guy there is so overstreched it maybe a week before he gets to me and maybe, just maybe he might know what to do, but no-one has faith in his tech abilities.
What I can say is that my vpn was fine before when I was using the Linksys wrt54g, the only change at home is that was changed out for the new d-link dir 655 unit.
Now the vpn "says" it is connected on my desktop but obviously it isn't as i do not get any email through the office outlook account and I cannot access the office shared drive.
However when I go into the office, it connects and downloads all the email I have missed and hey presto connects to the shared drive with no problem.
Therefore my Sherlock Holmes in me says it must be "something" to do with the new router. maybe a box is crssoed and shouldn't be or vice versa, but which one is the magic question.
Sorry i cannot be more help, I truly wish I could. Maybe I should switch back to the linksys unit and not upgrade? but seems to me to be defeatest. Any ideas anyone? simple ones please
