My dgl-4500 wireless resets all the time. I flashed to 1.12 and reset to default settings. I never had any heat issues, router was sitting on it's side. It was working fine when I first got it last month.

The router shows around 400 errors when I look in the wireless statistics. I'm guess it's probably just defective. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem.

My old dgl-4300 still works great, kinda wish I didn't buy the 4500.

What wireless band are you running.. 2.4GHz or 5GHz? Do you have other wireless devices on the same band which may cause interference? Please ensure your wireless environment is clear from any type of interference.

I was on the road for a few months, and now decided to fool with this router some more. I'm running 2.4GHz, there are no other wireless devices on this band in the house. In fact my 4300 router runs wireless great so I can't see how something would cause interference with the 4500 and not the 4300.

I have flashed to 1.15. I don't get as many errors as I used too, but the logs show the wireless resets continuously. Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is?

Ignore the error statistics -- see http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=2844.msg17005#msg17005 to help you understand them.  Your DGL-4300 should be racking up the same kinds of counts.

If that's the Wii deauthenticating and reauthenticating each time, it looks like one side has blacklisted the other.  Restart both the DGL-4500 and the Wii to try and remove the block.  If that alone doesn't fix it.  Change the SSID of the DGL-4500, reboot the Wii, then have the Wii associate to the new SSID as there probably is something wrong with the current saved wireless profile.

it's normal for the Wii to Deauth and reauth. Thats Nintendos design, it saves power. Thats nintendos excuse or so i've heard, mine does that too.

Alright so errors are pretty normal, I thought something wrong since my 4300 has very few wireless errors.

So any ideas what is causing my wireless disconnecting every 10 to 30 minutes. This happens on my daughters desktop and my laptops. I'll be browsing the web or downloading files and the wireless just disconnects. When I am using my 4300 I have no disconnects to any of my wireless computers or the wii.

I have my antennas setup like this _ l _ and the 4500 is mounted to the wall, so there shouldn't be any heat issues.

List out your wireless settings. 

If you have game consoles, such as the Wii, ALWAYS give it a DHCP reservation.  I only say this, because it elminates problems of trying to connect, and/or stay connected.

The two end antennas in the above will have the same plane -- try this for possible improvement \ | /  (the middle one optionally angled forward or back but not side-to-side)

Thanks for the replys. I have tried positioning the antennas, but it makes no difference. Here are my current settings. Keep in mind I have tried just about every settings with no improvements. It's like the radio just decides to turn off and on for no reason. I do have the dhcp reservations set for all my wireless devices.

Auto Channel Scan = Disable by setting a specific channel  (surely)

Channel Width Auto 20/40 MHz = set to 20 MHz   (maybe)

If this helps, changing channels or modes may be behind some of the restarts you were seeing.  In my case, "Auto Channel Scan" was definitely a culprit.

The 2.4 GHz band is best for penetration indoors.  5 GHz isn't so great, unless you are outdoors.

On the 2.4GHz range, the channel's best to use are either 1, 6, or 11...these are the ones that have the least amount of interference from other devices, etc.

I actually bought this router thinking 5ghz would be better, and I use Wireless-N as well.

ANy other recommendations?

I did just noticed 5ghz band wasnt that good, either on 20mhz width or 40width or auto 20/40 same results when i went far. Would it be better to have it on 20mhz or 40mhz than on Auto 20/40 ?
