DD over HDMI
« on: September 09, 2008, 09:53:38 AM »

Has anyone been able to get Dolby Digital to work via HDMI in Media Center Extender (MCX) Mode?
The only way I am able to get DD is via coax.  What is the point of having to run another cable if there is HDMI output????  The result is that my receiver wont allow me to run video via hdmi and audio via coax so now I have to run component video and coax audio...Not exactly why I purchased the 750 for its HDMI output.

I have the latest firmware 1.01.16.

Do you connect your HDMI from the DSM-750 to a receiver or to your TV directly?

I hooked it into my receiver.
Setup:
Denon AVR-4308CI.
The receiver tells me that there is only two channels input.

Here is more info i found that someone else ran into this issue.

Have you verified that the file support 5.1 audio? The same file is 5.1 when using coax?

ECF -Sorry for the late reply, but it takes a while for me to unhook everything to root out this problem.
To answer your questions yes they support 5.1 and are  5.1 if I use coax.  On the receiver i can see the incoming signal format - anything over hdmi shows incoming as two channels.  I tried different sources (live tv with 5.1, recorded tv with 5.1, ripped dvd) etc...  and still no 5.1 over HDMI.

In your first statement you report Dolby Digital in Media Center Extender mode, Do you get 5.1 in Media Lounge mode?
