I guess the original thread problem about recurring freezing has not been fixed.  It is now August 2008 and I have just installed new adapters on a number of laptops.  One model affected is the ASUS M3000N running WinXP SP2.  It is related to when CPU shoots to 100%, Task Manager does not show which processes are the culprit since it stops updating during these times of freezing.

This does not happen on other models of ASUS laptops.  I have not tried them on any DELL, HP, Gateway, etc brands yet.

Also there is no way to import existing saved WLAN profiles!  These are all being upgraded from the G Series adapters and it will be way too labor intensive trying to re-create each user's saved profiles on each laptop while having to deal with a freezing problem.

Anyone know of a way to import using the new Connection Manager????

I have been using the DWA-652 cards for quite some time and never had any system freezing problems.  Are you using windows to manage your connections or the software that came with the drivers?  I let windows manage the connections and only use the Driver.   I do not install any of the extra software.  I am currently using the Atheros reference driver version 7.6.0.239 after having problems testing the D-link Beta drivers and recieving no support from them.  see http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=1829.0

Cheers!

Just coming to say that I just had the same freezing problem :(

I'm not sure why, when I used my internal card to do gaming it's perfectly fine.

But after about 30 min of using dwa-652 my cpu shot up to 100% usage and the game stutter and lag to kingdom come. T-T

I just bought this card DWA-652 to go with my DIR-655 router, and it is freezing up my HP laptop.  I am running XP pro with sp2.    I am using the latest 1.40 update from d-link.  I have tried installing the complete dlink software, and when that didnt work,  I tried uninstalling and using just the driver without the dlink software, using windows to manage network instead.  That fixed the signal dropping out every minute, but the laptop still freezes up.  I have to hard re-boot to get back in to the computer.   This sucks.  I have been using Dlink for many years now, and I am so disappointed in the "N" products I have chosen.   I am using my old Dlink airplus card now, cause my dwa-652 has so many problems.  Why hasn't dlink fixed this issue?  The forums are full of people complaining of this.    Can someone help, or will I just return both dlink hardware and try other company?

If the adapter is locking your machine up, there could be a compatibility issue with the motherboard, the motherboard drivers or the current install of the OS. We have released newer drivers to address the locking issue. If these drivers continue to lock your PC, I suggest completely uninstalling the card, all the driver entires as well as registry entries and try again. If this behavior continues, try another machine.
