Quote
This morning I visited the online news site »www.livenewscameras.com like I always do to watch streaming news online. The difference today was that I clicked on the live hurricane coverage link to visit broadcasts from around the gulf coast. I noticed that I kept on loosing the connection while on this page. I also noticed that my router would keep rebooting, something its never done before. I wanted to hear from others who have this router and if you've noticed this behavior with your unit.

I can reproduce this using DIR-655 HW A2 FW 1.20

1.  Go to http://www.livenewscameras.com/
2.  Click on Live Hurricane Coverage
3.  User is prompted to load ActiveX nsmp2inf.cab (other than the fact that it supports Windows Media Player, I don't know what it does)
4.  Router reboots and is unstable

Because this "Live Hurricane Coverage" page is temporary, it would be helpful for developers to have a better example that might be around for a few weeks while this issue is looked at.  I don't have one right now.

Yeah I posted about this problem and I've since found that the crash happens if I use ie7.  If I use firefox the page will load normally and I can watch the feeds without issue and the router doesn't reboot.

Does it work if you turn off RTSP ALG?

Hi All,

Running D-link DIR-655 A3 with Firmware version 1.11, using Internet Explorer 7 with Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 and I am not having any issues, whatsoever. This is a Desktop Wireless Computer with DWA-552 installed. I do have Comcast/Mcafee Internet Security Suite installed, however, only VirusScan and Personal Firewall Plus. Nothing else actively protecting me.

We were able to successfully stream from that website without issue. Using a DSL modem and the 4500 with the 1.12 code.
I'll see if I can get it tested again.

Good, thanks.  I am connected to a Westell 327W in bridge mode.  My ISP is Verizon DSL but the connection profile is not PPPoX but is standard ethernet (WAN default settings).

3000/768 Kbps

Also..

Disabling SPI successfully avoids this issue without disabling the RSTP ALG..

To do this:

1. Log into your configuration web pages
2. Click on Advanced - Firewall Settings (DIR-655) or Advanced - Firewall (DGL-4500)
3. UN-check the checkbox for SPI (leaving the RTSP ALG checkbox checked)
4. Click on Save Settings
5. If not prompted to reboot the router, then click on Tools - System and choose the "Reboot the Device" button.

With my device configured this way, I can visit the offending page without the router restarting or becoming unstable.
