OOMA and Dlink 655..DHCP
« on: January 27, 2011, 09:05:29 AM »

DHCP Client
QoS Engine : Active
Cable Status :Connected
Network Status :Established
Connection Up Time :0 Day 2 Hour 46 Min 02 Sec

MAC Address :C4:2C:03:1F:05:06
IP Address :172.27.35.137
Subnet Mask :255.255.255.0
Default Gateway :172.27.35.1
Primary DNS Server :208.67.222.222
Secondary DNS Server :208.67.220.220

OK thats what I have on my page
I am using Open DNS for my dns server..good idea or not? I tried to go back to 0.0.0.0 and it screwed stuff up too bad.
I just got a new computer that I using for my main server machine. Its a mac mini. The address is 192,168.0.250. The odd thing is this..the mac address listed for thismachine is the mac address above tied to the 172.27.35.137(Ooma Hub)
HOW CAN THIS BE?
On my main page I a showing all of my computers, wiis, iphoes etc. Everything seems to wrok except when I go to do some file sharing, I have to re connect. And if I look in log I will see that my home computer has been given a new IP.
SO far today it has gone from 192.168.0.252 to 254 to 250 in less than an hour. The 254 was allegedly a CONFLICT?
With what?
Does OOMA have to be 172 address?
I have Comcast modem-------OOMA--------Dlink655-------Wirelsss--------MAcbook pro and PAvilion
                                                               /            \(ethernet)
                                                        MAcMini     Windoze
So two hardwired and two woreless
also wii and apple tv (wireless of course)
Everything seems to work..but my macbook is sluggish as hell. The MAcMini with half as much mem runs ciorcles around it.
CAN I SETUP THE OOMA differently? Should it be in DMZ or reserved address? I mean it really has no bearing on my network. Its just THERE. In the way. Does it need tat wierd address?
Thanx

Does the OOMA have a DMZ? I might try to put the 655 in the OOMA DMZ and see how it goes. I would also see if you can assign a static IP to the 655 so the IP address doesn't change and makes it easy to trouble shoot.
