DIR-655 Port Forwarding not fully working
« on: October 05, 2008, 05:58:58 PM »

I'm running a DIR-655 Router here
Firmware: 1.20
Hardware Version: A3

It seems for whatever reason, the port forwarding feature on my router doesn't seem to be fully working anymore.  I know this because I've tried a few different port probing programs and they can see only Rules 1 & 2, but not 3 or 4

I would also like to note I've attempted to restore factory default settings, both by doing it through the router's interface, and by pressing the reset button on the back of the router... Doesn't seem to make any difference.

I've only been able to successfully only get 2 rules I've set to properly work with the following ports:

Rule: Checked
Rule #1: Utorrent
IP: 192.168.0.102
TCP: 43821
UDP: 43821
Schedule: Always
Inbound Filter: Allow All
-----------------------
Rule: Checked
Rule #2: radmin
IP: 192.168.0.102
TCP: 4900
UDP: 4900
Schedule: Always
Inbound Filter: Allow All
-----------------------
(THIS RULE DOES NOT WORK DESPITE SETTINGS BEING PROPERLY SET)
Rule: Checked
Rule #3: Trillian File Transfer
IP: 192.168.0.102
TCP: 4444
UDP: 4444
Schedule: Always
Inbound Filter: Allow All
-----------------------
(THIS RULE DOES NOT WORK DESPITE SETTINGS BEING PROPERLY SET)
Rule: Checked
Rule #4: test
IP: 192.168.0.102
TCP: 2566
UDP: 2566
Schedule: Always
Inbound Filter: Allow All
-----------------------

Any additional suggestions/feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Test this:

Rule: Checked
Rule #1: All rule
IP: 192.168.0.102
TCP: 2566, 43821, 4900, 4444
UDP: 2566, 43821, 4900, 4444
Schedule: Always
Inbound Filter: Allow All

This way you only need one rule. Don't forgrt to give 192.168.0.102 DHCP Reservation
and put it on in networkfilter

DIR-655, Outlook will not open over VPN
« Reply #4 on: September 04, 2010, 05:45:55 PM »

just upgraded from a Netgear 'G" router to the DIR-655, love the features of the 655 including the USB port. This is the issue, when I connect VPN to my job, I can see all of my files, databases, spread sheets, etc and use them no problem at all. Have a 25 meg connection via Comcast.
I can not open my outlook 2003the program opens, however it just sits at trying to connect and then time out. Have tried for 10 days now with no luck. Lan team at job state that "N" routers are blocking traffic and ports that outlook needs, 5 other users have this problem at work.
Have read many posts on Google but none seem to help.
Any guidance would be most greatly appreciated as I have had many sleepless nights tying to figure this out.
Other than this issue the router is great. Running the latest firmware for the router as well
thank you so much

check your 655 firewall settings, multicast etc.

Also, if something is being blocked it will  show up in the log. And don't forget to check possible ISP or modem blocks (and OS settings)....the 655 is not the only device between you and your client
