Share Port USB utility software and Memory dump during install
« on: October 14, 2008, 10:07:06 AM »

I have the DIR 655 V3 D link router, I upgraded to latest version firmware and everything went fine.  Downloaded the SharePort utility software V.90 and I get the blue screen memory dump every time I try and load the software.  I am running vista business.  I have turned off all firewall services and shut down my virus software and updated all my drivers and I am still having this problem and can't get the software installed.  Any Ideas?  Any one else having similar problems??

Appreciate your thoughts in advance

Is it a 32bit based OS or 64bit?

I just got off of the phone with customer service and they were not helpful at all other to tell me to download and install the shareport utility..  So if anyone out there can help it would be greatly appreciated.  This is the only reason I bought this router was for the shareport feature..

I am connected to the router with this computer wired....

I just tried to install again and again got into the blue screen, memory dump situation and could't get out of it this time.  Had to restore the system.

ON the blue screen there was a statement that said DRIVER IRQC_Not less than or equal.

I'll test it out right away and get back to ASAP. However, I've got Vista Ultimate (32bit). I'm using a 655 A4 with the latest firmware from the support site.

Here is what i'm planning on doing (let me know if you're doing something differently)

1. download and install latest utility from www.support.dlink.com, specifically, from this page http://www.support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DIR-855#apps

2. install as usual

3. Expect a BSOD.

And I'm off!

Are you using the same download file to do your install, or have you tried a fresh download of the utility?

fresh download / install from www.support.dlink.com

The results are in: No BSOD.

Is there anything else I should know about your setup?

LOL. No not you, DSteele, the one with the BSOD issue.  Just wondering if he has a corrupt download.

dsteel1 -

I had exactly this on XP - same exact message.

I was running Trend Internet Security 2007 firewall/antivirus. Switching Trend off didn't help, but de-installing it completely solved the problem.

I've since updated to TIS 2009 - no more problems.

Something to try

Sorry been away for the last few days...  I have tried redownloading the software numerous times and the same BSOD happened.  However I am going to try the last solution as I also have pcillin internet security 2007, had shut it off but will try to uninstall it....  Thanks for the tip...  Will let you all know if it works

I found the problem.  It is with Trend internet security 2008.  I uninstalled the product, loaded the shareport software and it worked like a charm.  I then reinstalled TIS again and once again the BSOD happened...  SO now I either wait until the bug is figured out or if the gentleman who used TIS 2009 could let me know if there are any problems I might consider upgrading.

Or any other ideas??

Glad you're getting somewhere.

Since I put TIS 2009 on, I haven't noticed any problems on XP or Vista Home. Certainly no BSODs. I've only tried a flash drive on the USB, but it seems to work as advertised.

If you have an active licence for TIS, you can upgrade free of charge by just installing the latest version, or at least, that's what I did.
