UPNP Problems
« on: October 15, 2008, 04:23:55 PM »

I recently purchased a dns-321 with the intent of using it solely as a UPNP server and get rid of the computer now that is running the dlink server software.  I set up the 321 with no problems, i am curretly only running one 500g hard drive in it until i get my pair of 1tb in the mail.  All my Movies are encoded using Nero7 Recode, Standard profile, and shrunk to 2gigs each.  I am using multiple dsm-320's through out my house.  When i had the dlink server running, i had no problems at all watching movies, now with the dns-321 serving the movies, Nero Digital movies don't work at all. I keep getting a error about not compatible with this device or something along that line.  i had a few movies with the .avi extension on them, but i dont remember what i encoded it with, those where the very first movies i ever encoded.  The Movies with the .avi extensions do work on the dns-321, but every 10-20 mins, it gets choppy and the video freezes and the sound continues to go, then after about 3mins of being frozen it finally starts back up again.

All i really want is for my DNS-321 to play my Nero Digital videos, That was my whole reason for even  buying Nero, DLINK said they recommended it for my dsm-320's.   If i set the dns-321 as a video folder for the dlink server, it plays perfectly, so its not a transfer problem, or a problem with the encoding, its the dns-321's UPNP server.   I really hope there is a fix for this soon, i have about 100+ movies in nero digital that i have been using the dsm-320 to watch for years. Please tell me there is a firmware upgrade coming, or something. I really, really dont want to re-ecnode these videos just to be able to use the dns-321, i would rather send the device back.
