I noticed the same problem with a Vista client as well.  (Though I have a USB printer attached to the Router)  The lap-top was connected to the router fine, but the SharePort app did not locate the router.  I did a re-install of the utility and that seemed to work, but I'm going to wait and see if this issue pops up again.

I have installed the Shareport utility on 2 computres - an XP which all works fine.
In my other Vista utility is being installed but do not reconize the devices that I conect to the port.
Intrestingly, it also missing the first line in the popupwindow with concetion to the router.

Reinstalling the software didn't help.
Any idea how to solve that issue?

BTW - firmware is 1.01 and sharport is 1.0

Why should firewall make a diffrenece - in all of my XP's there is a firewall (norton corporate) and it is working fine.

What do you mean by local ethernet devices? I have nothing but the router and PC's on my local ethernet.

Also no troubleshooting on D-link site to help solve that issue (moderator can you help on that...)

Hello ran, should work with firewall if you're setting in the expection (firewall setup ==> UDP port & Shareport .exe file), second sets your local ether as "private network" & turn-on network discovery...  good luck :)

OK,
I got it this time.

Apperently there was a discussion on that at the microsoft onecare fire wall. As it seems that issue is ****e to occur with that firewall.

See postings on the following link:
http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=4045576&SiteID=2

for me enabling the USB protcol 6 and enabling UDP port 9303 both both inbound and outbound on the local network has solved the issue.
I wish the D-link will post that solution (or similar) on their website.

I gues that this was Thuytle solutoin as well....

I'm running into the same problem with Vista. The following worked for me:

1. Open Windows Firewall Settings (in Control Panel)
2. Go to the "Exceptions" tab
3. Click on the "Add port..." button
4. Name: Shareport, Port Number: 9303, Select UDP and click OK
5. Click on the "Add program..." button
6. Select "SharePort Network USB Utility" and click OK
7. Click OK to accept the new Firewall settings.

Hello folks. New here, just picked up my DIR-825 (firmware 1.01) yesterday.  TIA for any help you may offer.
I am setting up a drive using SharePoint (1.1.4). I have the router recognizing the drive and the ‘Waiting to Connect’ dialog opens displaying the proper drive (Seagate – FreeAgent). However when I click the ‘connect’ I hear my PC ‘ding’ like it I plugged in a USB device, the dialog says I am using it,  but I don’t see the drive anywhere. No autoplay option -nothing. I opened ‘my computer’ and see nothing there either.
I get the same result on both of my computers –one running XP-SP2 and the other VISTA-64.
I didn’t see anything similar in other threads and was hoping someone could help me out.
thnx
