More drama, or a potential resolution....You Decide!
Called up DLINK, waited on hold, spoke with a very nice woman.  She spoke with her manager.  Believe it or not, both are actually the same people that I spoke with originally.  :)
So the skinny is, somehow the warehouse did not fufill the manager's note to ship a new Revision B unit.
Did you hear that folks?  Revision B!

Interesting.

Are they talking A2 as in "B" (since it was the second iteration) or are we talking an entirely new setup, as in A1, A2, B1?

You'll have to let us know when you receive it.

Will do.  I'm tired of waiting for the label, so I've tried to call RMA....20 minutes on hold, then 3 minutes of silence, then it forwards me to tech support.  TechSup tells me to call back.  It happened all over again.
Lovely.  I hope someone @ Dlink knows something is broken.

i got the same problem with alot of 2.4GHz Band: Wireless restart. i have also experienced that the router totally freeze up, where the only solution is to reboot it with disconnecting the power.

Upgraded from 1.11EU
Same problem with unstable wireless that restarts

upgraded from 1.12EU
Same problem with unstable wireless that restarts

Hardware Version: A2 Firmware Version: 1.20NA also called 1.20beta10
Same problem with unstable wireless that restarts

ive just installed the 1.20 and still have reboot of wireless, but the freeze only comes once a week.

i cant beleve that it should be made by design to reboot itself if there is interference from other wifi channels. would think it only lost performans in away. what a waste of money for something so unstable

So I'm still waiting on a callback since Friday (5/8/09) from the RMA manager.  Second shipment contained A2 1.10 which is confusing since they ordered me a new rev: B.
I'm pondering what to do now.

Hi all.
Iīve come to a conclusion.
The problem with the constant restarting is one of my wired PCs.
I can have all of the wireless units connected, but when I start the PC in question, the 855 restarts 7-8 times.
Iīve been in contact with Dlink support, but they havent come further than asking me about my different wireless equipment, kinds of wireless-cards, drivers firmware etc. etc.

I still havenīt come to any solution, but now believe Iīve found the source of the problem.

Iīll be back when I know more. If any of you can be of assistance, please donīt hold back on your thoughts

I have had chance to do alot of testing this time because i got 50 restart in about 30 minutes. So i have systematically tried one setting at a time to see if it helps the problem. And what have help so far was disabling WPA and runnging without security. my settings is at the moment

Wireless G Only
Wireless Channel 9
Transmission Auto
All 5G disabled
WLAN Partition On
WMM On
Super GI

This can be pure luck, but ill try to work my way from here and see if it crash again when enable security. and if it is possible to run other security settings stable

Normally i run Endpoint. but have run along time without it. and still got the problem. it also appeared on my Xbox360 and PS3 without any computer turned on. what i still experience is a rock stable wireless when only running Mac filter without WPA and WEP. it seem for me when security is enabled it starts to crash. also with only using the xbox.

can other confirm if it is a problem with WEP and WPA

I think your onto something.  I have came to the same conclusion.  I have a total of 3 pc's, 2 hardwired and 1 wireless.  I'll call the hardwired comps A and B.  I found that as soon as comp A loaded it's OS (windows 7 in this case), the wireless goes completely offline.  Computer B doesn't affect the wireless at all.  So i tried to disable the NIC on comp A and what do you know, the wireless came back online with a stable connection.  I also tried the 2nd NIC in comp A and the wireless still went offline.  So i disabled the 2nd NIC and wifi came back.  I'm not sure what the root cause is, but i will try to reformat my computer.  Maybe a virus? trojan?

Hi Guys;

You may have read my post on the 1.21 beta thread but those that haven't, I have put together a blog of all the shortfalls of this router in the hopes that I can embarrass DLink into fixing them (unfortunately this is what is has come to) as once it has a comprehensive list, I will go to the review sites with it.

I have put together a page that summaries this issue. Can you all have a look at it and add comments where you think are required.

Thanks.

Mock please consider testing (only) enabling and disabling the 5GHz radio, much apprecaited!

That picture is NOT correct. Placing the antenna at those degrees causes the signals to smash in to one another, you'd want more of a tilt on the exterior antennas. You'll extend broadcast range and improve reception.

Please publish the horizontal and vertical radiating patterns of the OEM DIR-855 antennas (both bands.)  Thanks so much in adnvance, that would be awesome!
