Does the media playback OK if it is stored on your PC and you are using WMP11 as your media server and  What is the media type and properties?

Can you provide more detail on your avi video file? Does this happen on every video you have played all formats?

Any ideas on what to try to do to fixthis. Being a Media Server was one of the main reasons for bying the unit and I just can't make it work.
Thanks

Are you using the DSM-320 wireless? If so can you try it wired please as I do not see this issue when playing video files from the DNS-323 to my DSM-320 here.

Installed Twonkyvision on the 323 and no problem, so the issue seems to be the media server that comes with the unit.

not sure if this was checked but are you using the latest firmware on both the DNS323 and the DMS320

I have the same problem outlined by Jeremias1008

My environment contains:
- DSM-320RD with the lastest firmware (1.04.17WW)
This device is used  with a wired connection

- DNS-323 with firmware 1.05
Contains two Hitachi 1TB drives in RAID1 array
    Volume Name:  Volume_1
    Volume Type:  RAID 1
    Sync Time Remaining:  Completed
Total Hard Drive Capacity:  981858 MB
    Used Space:  441521 MB
    Unused Space:  540337 MB

- DGS-2208  (8 port gigabit switch)

- Two separte Windows XP machines running MediaLounge 1.10
Both these machines use a network mapping to the DNS-323 to share media directly from the DNS-323

From both WinXP running MediaLounge I can play the avi files reliably.  This occures even though these files are really located on the DNS-323 device  (The gigabit switch really keeps up)

But when I try to access the UPnP server on the DNS-323 directly I get freezing of the video and audio after only a few seconds of playback.  This happens with all the AVI file I have tried.   I have tried a good dozen various files.

Most files are around  700-750MB in size.

Specifics from one of the files is as follows
Frame width 624
Frame height 352
Data rate 2kbps
Frame rate 25 frames/second

I have tried to disable items such as the FTP and iTunes server and have played with the jumbo frames.
I have tried both static and dynamic IP addressed on both the DNS-323 and the DSM-320RD (and all combinations)
I am currently using static IP addresses on both devices.

As I said - I am using the work around of using MediaLounge 1.10 on one of my PCs.  But would rather server the video from the DSN-323 directly.
