IGMP Multicast memberships Question
« on: November 15, 2008, 08:38:51 PM »

Hi All,

What exactly is this:

IGMP Multicast memberships
Multicast Group Address
239.255.0.1
239.255.255.250
224.0.0.251

I'm curious.

I did find this:

IGMP Multicast memberships
If IGMP is enabled, this area of the screen shows all multicast groups of which any LAN devices are members.

And also saw this:
Multicast Streams
Enable Multicast Streams :  checked.

I thought Enable Multicast Streams was for programs like Windows Live Messenger and Windows Media Player.

Are you suggesting that the original poster shouldn't have posted a question in the d-link forum about a d-link product, but instead should have gone to wikipedia for an answer?

Darn, you're good!

This is not a Dlink specific question. If you knew what he was asking you would know.
Or are you doubting Wikepedia to give a complete answer?

Just to let you know, that Multicast is broken on A4 rev and firmwares over 1.11. I have spoken to local distributor and they are aware of this and have also contacted dlink directly but that was over an year ago and its still not working. -1 for dlink
