Antenna orientation
« on: November 22, 2008, 11:36:49 PM »

What is the 5GHz antenna orientation in the DAP-1522? If I want to get the best signal for streaming to a DSM-750 how should I orient the the DAP-1522? Horizontal? Vertical? and which edge towards the media player?

It's working but the access point only reports about 50% signal strength over 20 feet (and only 1 wall) so I would have expected better. I've tried turning the box a couple of different ways but didn't see any big difference in the reported signal strength.

TIA

Rob.

You can find some internal pictures here https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=226617&fcc_id='KA2AP1522A1'.  This is from the FCC's web site.  I did at one time find that the 2.4 antenna is on the left side of the unit.  The 5.0 antenna is on the front right side.  This is when looking at the front of the unit.

Hope this helps.

Sorry to necro this thread.
But I want to clear the potential misinformation in-case anyone stumbles upon this thread in the future looking for information.
The antennas in this device are dual band.
It says so in the operational description fcc filing.

https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm
Grantee Code:KA2
Product Code:AP1522A1

Click details any of the results
Click the exibit operation description
in there it describes the antennas as being 2.4ghz/5ghz at 2dbi/1dbi gain respecitvely
