I'm trying to configure the DDNS using no-ip at server dynupdate.no-ip.com. Got all the infos needed but the status hangs on "updating..." any thoughts?

Are you connected to a router? I would recommend setting up DDNS on your router instead.

The DDNS on the DNS-321 does too many updates and the DNS server will shut you off because you are abusing the DNS server.  This is what happened to me.  I haven't tried this in V 1.01, but V 1.00 did not work.  They are very strict on how many updates can be requested in a specified amount of time and they WILL shut you off for abuse.  My router (to be fair it is not a D-Link router) did not do the job correctly either.  I finally had to download a Windows client that does the job from my PC.

Each time the DNS server shuts you off, you must request that they turn you back on and you have to explain what you've done to solve the problem.  Don't use the DNS-321 for DDNS!

It has already been fixed so really no need for a deterrent..

What's been fixed?  The update interval is now fixed at 576 hours or 24 days in firmware in V 1.01.  That in itself is not a fix and is potentially still a problem.  According to the DynDNS web site, an update cannot occur more often that 28 days unless the IP address changes.

Has the DNS-321 been certified for proper DNS updating?  In checking on the DynDNS web site, this device is not listed in their certified hardware and has not been tested (certified) for proper DNS update operation according to them.  Until that is done I don't recommend using it for DNS updates.

How about sending a unit to DynDNS and having it certified?  I'd rather use the DDNS function in the DNS-321 or in my Router than have a separate Windows update client, but neither has worked properly.

We have already spoken with DynDNS on several occasions regarding this issue and the spec above is allowed by DynDNS. As I said previously, it has been fixed.
