Windows XP SP3, here.
I just started having these problems the moment I updated to the newest driver available on the website. I had updated multiple pieces of hardware at the same time, audio card, graphics card, chipset drivers, and of course, this D-Link DWA-552 wireless card.
I listen to music every night, and I noticed it was the wireless card purely by having all of the lights off while my computer was playing music. Whenever the lag happened, the blinking light on the back of the wireless card would pause for the duration of the interruption, and then resume.
Thing is, everything got interrupted when this happened. The mouse would freeze, music, everything. Not only that, but the wireless connection dropped consistently (even during periods without this lag across the computer).
I reformatted my computer. Not only did I reformat, but I tried installing the new drivers the first moment I could, just to see if the reformat would validate the drivers or something. BAD idea. This problem happened the moment I installed them. Mind you, this was the only driver I installed. Not even my Logitech Trackball was installed when I installed the new drivers. And this was on SP1.
So, what I did (and I'm not sure if this fix will last once I do Windows Update) was uninstall the adapter, reboot, and put in the CD that came in the box. I went through the setup that way, (and I had my Device Manager open while I did this) and everything went fine. However, when trying to use Windows Zero Config, nothing would work. It was only once I unchecked "Allow Windows to manage wireless" did it start working again.
I double checked the driver info and it says the version I have installed is 6.0.1.175.
I am not going to update this any further. I refuse. This is terribly unprofessional coming from D-Link. About my situation, I also have a Thinkpad T60p with an Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG adapter. Haven't had a single problem with it. Works perfectly with Thinkpad Access Connections, Windows Zero Config, and the accompanying Intel software. Just perfectly. It's just not N capable.

I paid 80$ or something for this thing and I expect it to work and not lag my ENTIRE computer up. What's with this, eh? And yes, I am expecting a NEW driver to fix the problems we've all been having.
