Hi Everyone; :)

I have 2 x 500GB each and the second hard drive has not been used and nothing is stored on it. I need to use this second hard drive in another device as i am gradually planing to permanently stop using the DNS 323 and replace it with something else, however i don't want to lose the data stored on the primary hard drive. so can i just remove the second (empty) hard drive without loosing any data on the primary? will the primary hard drive be still accessible after removing the second hard drive?

waiting your feedback guys

thanks

If the drives are formatted as individual volumes and not as RAID or JBOD, you can remove either drive without affecting the other.

RAID1 is for disk redundancy - NOT data backup - don't confuse the two.

Hi Fordem;

thanks for the prompt reply. you reminded me that i set them as standard hard drives, so i removed the second hard drive and tested the DNS and everything seems to be normal.. thanks again
