Hey has anyone opened theirs up?

I just want to see some Pics.  I do not really want to open mine till the warrany is up.  I am wierd that way.  NO THIS IS NOT FOR MODDING.  I could never resist opening something up to see inside.

Interesting, the article at http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/30568/100/ mentions that the PCB inside the DIR-825 is marked DGL-4500.

That's the exact same circuit board as the 4500.

Matter of fact, I just compared the numbers in it to those in the photo from figure 4 and everything was the same except the manufacture date.

Now the differences between the DGL-4500 and the 825 are this.......

 - 4500 = 1 mini-PCI WiFi card
 - 825, 855 = 2 mini-PCI WiFi cards

With the 4500, the Bnc (antenna) connectors are attached to the plastic housing. With the 825, the Bnc connectors are soldered to the circuit board.

 - 4500 has only one LED on the front and an OLED Screen on top

The rest of the differences aren't really much to bother with.

Very Informative.  I Like it.  I suppose that it could be possible to install another mini wan but what software would you run.  what would the gain be.  I think I like mine the way it is.  OH What would be cool is a remote OLED display for me to see on my computer.  The Yahoo Widget was crap.

Whew.  I've sent a few people to buy after-market antennas for their 4500s assuming they were RP-SMAs (like D-Link has used for years).  You scared me a little!

what aftermarket antennas did you reccomend for the 4500?  I installed the D-Link Xtreme N ANT24-0230 Antenna on mine and works fine however I would like something similar that uses omni antennas wirh a bit of gain.  Thanks.

Nothing specific -- I just told them to look for A/B or A/G dual-band with RP-SMA or Reverse-SMA connectors.
