Just got my DNS-323 today along with a couple 1.5TB Seagates.  Seems like the wait for 1.06 has become somewhat agonizing for many;  any update other than 'soon'?    How 'bout something like - "it has now been officially released. Here is the link..."

I got my dns-321 working with the 1.5TB seagates with firmware 1.01.  Waiting for the updated firmware for dns-323 so I can put 1.5T drives in that product.

I also have two 1.5TB hard disks sitting idle.
When I am in the room with them and I am very quiet I can hear them losing value.

I think D-Link is waiting for 3 consecutive days without posts with the words firmware 1.06 in them to finally release the file.

Called support yesterday. Typical helpdesk. You should press the reset button at the back, then your disks will be detected and you will be able to format in Raid1.

I didn't respond to it like I used to. Over time you give up on fighting the system. Certainly helpdesk systems.

No kidding, I am almost sure it hasn't got anything to do with you guys.

Yeah, same thing here....  I bought about 2 weeks ago 2 Seagate 1.5 TB drives and this NAS, knowing the updated firmware should have been here very soon (from reading the other posts).  But no, it's still not there...

I can't wait to put them in RAID1 and start using them!  After updating the Seagates firmware (SD17 to SD1A) I did the configuration as Standard drives and setup all my options...  Only 3 steps left in my setup!

1-  Update to 1.06 when available (soon, very soon, please D-Link!)
2-  Format the drives as RAID1
3-  Fill up the array with some data!!!!

This seems to be the best NAS for home use, the features VS price ratio seems very competitive.  I also bought a D-Link DGS-1008D so I could have the best transfer rate possible!

Poor planning and purchases based on speculation is hardly prudent...It seems unlikely to me that a new firmware will be released immediately prior to Christmas as I am sure the support department wouldn't be too happy fixing issues from a new firmware during the holiday season.

When it is ready I have no doubt we will all know immediately.  Since when did asking "Are we there yet?" during a car ride get you there any faster...

It's funny how I ended up with two of these NAS drives (DNS-323 and DNS-321).  Since the beg of this year I wanted to run a RAID 1 setup, but cost was a big factor.  I had seen the 323 for $119 after rebate in  April so I decided to wait until I could get the unit close to that price.  Come Nov and I ended up getting a Shuttle KPC-45 for a real cheap price ($45) so I decided to run FREENAS on that instead.  I also saw the 323 for sale at Amazon for 146 - 20 rebate so that was tempting.  Well, I got a good deal on my Seagate 1.5T drives (I bought three) and upgraded the firmware from SD17 to SD1A when I got it and decided what the heck, I'll get the 323 from Amazon, but they were sold out so I got the DNS-321 for $78 and bought that.  Days later I saw the dns-323 for sale again and bought it because I really wanted the dns-323 (I've been waiting for that for a year).  I decided to resign the Shuttle to multi-boot various OSs (Linux/Ubuntu, XP, Lepoard, etc).  I finally got everything delivered and realized the firmware that supports the 1.5T drive is for the dns-321.  Now I'm happily running those drives on the dns-321.  I want to buy 2 more 1.5T drives and run those on the dns-323 when the firmware becomes available. 

I am really happy with the dns-321.  I only have one issue and that is accessing the shared folders on an xp machine (works in vista).  I think the issue is the fact this account has a password > 10 characters and the passwords must match that for the accounts set up on the dns-32x.  Correct me if I am wrong.

I was in the "I can't wait until 1.06 to use my 1.5Tb hard drives" camp, but as time as passed, it seems less important.   Using a scheduled job to do an incremental copy from Volume_1 to Volume_2 accomplishes practically the same thing, but give you an extra level of security from accidental deletes.  Granted I am not running a DBMS where I need complete real-time redundancy.  For keeping a mirror copy of my music and picture libraries and all the stuff I have accumulated over the years, the scheduled job handles it perfectly.  In fact, I'm not so sure I will reformat to RAID 1 when 1.06 becomes available.

Since you don't need "real-time redundancy" you don't need RAID1 and as you point out, the backup accomplishes "practically the same thing" but with the added advantage of protection from accidental deletes - you'd probably be better off with standard drives.

I just wish more people could make the same assessment as you have.

Apparently the 1.06 claimed.

  For my part I just need the FTP server supports Unicode as the 1.06 does not come I can not use a product that I bought over 250 dollars because it does not support the language of countries in which it was sold. And it will do now more than 4 months waiting.

But looking a bit you realize that there are leakages here and there.

Indeed there is the site station-driver.com  "that offers you the 1.06b65, but it is in Chinese: the web interface is in Chinese, I have not found in English.

For as against the 1.06b65 is not very old therefore a lot of features, including Unicode for ftp.
D-Link apparently do not have the money or the budget to get basic functionality in a firmware stable, he prefers all of a sudden, which is a shame, which harms their image.

1.06b65 IS in English!!! I've installed it because I was tired of constant waiting (shame on you D-Link). Firmware seems to be OK (except Email Alert System... but I was warned on www.dl-support.de so it wasn't a surprise). Too bad not every bug (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=1776 -> still present) or security hole was fixed (direct access to BitTorrent without authentication via http://10.10.10.2/web/bt/fe02.asp... BitTorrent from EasySearch 4.4.0). Let's hope it will be resolved in the Final firmware... someday.
