In hopes of encouraging future firmware updates to improve this product, I'm going to share some of my issues to date. Unless advertised as solely for backup purposes, my expectation of this product is that a shared file system should behave just the same way whether it is a windows share or a nas share. If there are issues like caching not detecting multiple writes to the same block, seek not being reliable, file system operations not all supported, etc, I don't know. I can only report what happens with certain applications when using a profile on this product, that don't in turn happen when using a remote windows share for the same purpose...
Firefox 3 and/or vista offline files - since sync can't happen while firefox has files open, I do the sync on login. frequently there are issues with files present on nas and not on local copy. Also, I frequently have to re-login at sites that normally 'just work' when I keep the profile on a local or windows share. Just a guess but perhaps there are issues with the number of files open at one time or other caching thing? Also, I think the fact that the clock on the 123 loses several minutes a day may contribute.
Thunderbird - seems to work fine/as expected with profile on the 123, I have seen no operational glitches, continue to work in this mode with this program, and never have sync issues.
uTorrent 1.8.1 - with the torrent sent to a nas directory, I frequently get failures with 'missing component', requiring me to force rescan then restart the torrent.

Anyone have similar issues? My fingers are crossed that D-Link wants this product to succeed through continuous quality improvement, but the current fix rate speaks for itself.
