For a while I'm waiting for the update to support of IPv6, but my patience is running out by now...

There are several FW's available, but none of them seem to fix this issue.
I'm running HW A3 and FW 1.31EUb02 at the moment.

Places where I spot new FW are:
1.34EUb05 on ftp://ftp.dlink.de/dir/dir-655/driver_software/
1.31EUb02 on ftp://ftp.dlink.se/Products/dir-products/dir-655/drivers_firmware/

The (Dutch) D-Link support is not the way to walk if you have less than a lifetime to wait for an answer... Anyone have some tips? I'd appreciate it!

the 655 is an IP v4 device.....  I wouldn't hope for much IP6 functionality beyond being able to pass basic IP6 packets....

Key question is...Is your ISP supporting and providing IPv6 at this time?

Not all brands are FULLY supporting IPv6 on there equipment. You have to read the fine print. Some say that the device is "compatible" with the IPv6. The FW still has not be implemented. Some versions of the HW haven't been afforded IPv6 as of yet however people are still waiting on it just like some of us here.

Check out the NetGear forums. Were not alone in this.

Dlink says they were going to add this ages ago... and with all IPV4 allocated now it is time to bring in IPv6


yes my ISP provides IPv6 now but i cant use it due to the router.

I would agree that mostly FW can make it support IPv6 however do not rule out that there probably has to be some HW support as well. HW may or may not support this. It all depends on how the developers implemented it and if they had any forethought about IPv6 at the time.

they themselves said they would be adding IPv6 in the future, so its likely it does.

The B version has IPv6 support, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for A Hardware support as it is considered EOL.

ver A-D have to little flash memmory to fit that. Those of you who have
B version can you tell us what chipset that unit have?

Where on the unit do you find or look for that information about the Chipset?

6 things must be true for IPV6 to work.

• 1. Your ISProvider needs to support IPV6.
• 2. Your Modem must support it, or you need to upgrade it.
• 3. You Router needs to support it.
• 4. Your Computer's Ethernet Adapter and its Drivers need to support it.
• 5. Your Operating system needs to support it.
• 6. The place you are connecting to, must support it.

Just open the unit and read on all chip.
Btw Model A-D never got support for IPV6  only B version during lack of nvram sise.

Not all the actual (physical) addresses are allocated. All the ranges available have been allocate, it will take a bit longer before the IPs themselves have actually physically distributed all available IPv4 addresses.

That's too bad... in that case my A-version will soon end up in the (recycle)dumpster, what also means the end of D-Link for me and my company.

I've a B-series and have seen no DHCPv6 configuration.  I posed the question to D-Link tech support several months ago as to whether they were planning to release a future firmware version that supported IPv6.  However, they said "no official plans" for it. 
 
Now, all should realize that the DIR-655 is intended as an inexpensive home not an enterprise product and probably not the ideal product to use for anything larger than a home business.  Perhaps a DSR-500N would be more fitting - more costly but as a business a tax write-off may be possible.  It is in same price range as a 10-user Cisco ASA-5505 but has Wireless-N as well as gigabit.  Unfortunately no documentaion of its processor, memory, and precise detail of its supported capabilities.
