AT&T USB Mercury modem with DIR-655?
« on: January 07, 2009, 10:06:21 PM »

I am trying to use the AT&T USB Mercury modem with the Dlink DIR-655 router but I have no idea what the proper config should be?  Can anyone help?  I have spent a long time searching on the net and nothing.  Thanks.  ???

Are you trying to connect the USB modem into the USB port of the router? That will not work

RFO,

Thanks for the reply.  I have an open case for this (Case ID is DLK400043393).  Would you care to explain why I cannot use the 3G USB Modem with the DIR-655 using the latest v1.21 firmware that was released in Nov that supposedly supports the 3G USB Modem for Internet Sharing?

It seems that some of your 1st level Techs don't seem to even know this feature was released along with the firmware, and then some that just don't even know anything about what is actually compatible with this feature, if at all.

At one point, someone emailed me back indicating that it should be EVDO modems, but I tried both AT&T USB Mercury and a Verizon Wireless UM175 and both don't work.

There is not even a listing for Verizon Wireless for the USA, except for 2 listings of AT&T, so how can EVDO modems be compatible, only outside of the USA maybe?

Wildfox,

Correct.. At the moment the 3G modems are not supported in the US. However we are working on getting this fixed. I'm told that this does work outside of the US like in Europe. I don't have an ETA on when this will be supported here in the US.

Hello:
I will be coming to the US in April 2009, and purchasing a USB750, for mobile broadband data access from Verizon (I assume EVDO, 3G, etc.). Will the DIR-655 work with that?

This statement is true for all carriers in the US currently.

I could of sworn although I dont see it now but when I bought the router,  dlinks US web site stated 3g capability and if you put that together with seeing 3G in the list of options for the usb port a person could easily be mislead to believe it will work
