DIR-655 set up
« on: February 04, 2011, 11:55:25 AM »

I currently have my Verizon Westel wireless modem route and a wireless PCI card for my internet connection, I purchased this DIR-655 wireless router with the intention to use it as WLAN connection to my home system so I could access my file when using my Media Player.
My question are:
1. Since this router setting has internet connection set up on it, is it possible to disconnect this internet setting so it doesn't interfere my existent internet connection?
2. I have set it up and they (this DIR-655 router and my wireless USB adapter of the Media Player) seems to "see" each other; however, I couldn't access the file in the computer?  Any suggestion?
3. In the Installation CD, when opens, it offers an "Install" option, what program/software that I'll be installing to my computer when I click to this button?
I'm a newbie when comes to Networking, especially its wireless technology, any help or advise would be much appreciated.

Hello Thecreator, thanks for respondinh to my question.  Let me amend my previuos qestions:

No.
Since this router setting has internet connection set up on it, is it possible to disconnect this internet setting so it doesn't interfere my existent internet connection?

With that said, I have another question.  Can these two routers to be Co-exist without any confict?

More information is needed.
I have set it up and they (this DIR-655 router and my wireless USB adapter of the Media Player) seems to "see" each other; however, I couldn't access the file in the computer?  Any suggestion?

When I tried to access the media file in the PC from my Media Player the router shows the IP address and the USB adapter status on its setting screen, and the Media player also shows the Network/Workgroup/Computer name/D:, however, I coudn't drill beyond this poit to get to the files.

None to my knowledge.

The Hardware rev. of the DIR-655 is B1
Thanks for any help coming my way.
