[Resolved] How can I go back to the old version?
« on: February 09, 2011, 01:18:01 PM »

Hi-.
I need USA style log.
I have a DIR-825 B1 with Firmware Version: 2.05WW.
How can I setup (; go back) to the USA 2.05NA version?
The firmware upgrade was failed cause that the uploaded firmware file may not be correct..
Please let me know...
Thanks.

You might have to go back to 2.03 first.  Then load 2.05NA first file then 2.05NA  2nd file.

try

http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=37009.0

this method

I need to amend what I wrote earlier(below).  With 2.03 I was able to bring up the native firmware loader by just holding reset for 45+ seconds to get the blinking orange led.  With 2.05 I wasn't able to do the same 45+ second reset thing.   But it seems you can just unplug the AC power from the router for about 15 seconds then push in and hold the reset and plug back in the AC power while still holding the reset button.  In about 20 seconds you get the orange blinking led and the native firmware loader at 192.168.0.1.

I don't know why it's different between 2.03 and 2.05 but it was for me.  Holding the reset for 45+ seconds is part of the detailed procedure described at dd-wrt or openwrt to bring up the native firmware loader.

my previous post
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I wrote in one of the other 2.05 threads I believe the native firmware loader that is called up when you hold the reset button for 45+ seconds no longer works after the 1st 2.05 file is loaded successfully.

Although nobody else has confirmed this I've tried it several times now and it doesn't work.  I was able to go back to 2.03NA from 2.05 by using the tools/firmware loader.

Did you try doing a hard router reset? (pressing in the the reset for 30 seconds)  That should get you to a default router state with 192.168.0.1 as the address.  Then try loading 2.03 again and make sure you're using Microsoft IE because sometimes other browsers don't work.

SUCCESSED!!

Thanks guy and others.
It was important that special static IP address 192.168.0.100 and connect to the http://192.168.0.1/
The URL shows the firmware upgrading special window only. I have never know this when I have been used DIR-655 such an upgrading special window only.
The flow: 2.05WW(Russian firmware) --> 2.03NA; 4MByte file --> 2.05(1)NA; 4MByte file –> 2.05(2)NA; 6MByte file.

Thanks again, guys!!
And more, Happy New Year!!!
I am happy!!!

I am having a similar issue, and I have found several threads that all reference the same one linked above however that link appears to be no longer valid. Does anyone by chance remember the helpful information contained there?

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

You can try this:
Emergency Recovery Mode
