Error Issues with wireless stats

Try Single Mode G or Mixed Mode G and N at 2.4Ghz?
Change the channel from 6 to 11?

These errors that you are seeing, how long a period of time is this?

What devices are you using to connect to WiFi?

hardwire: xbox

those errors are within a 30 min period of me running speed test on different testing websites

I presume your running speed tests over WiFi. I presume this is for testings however most speed test should be ran over wired. Testing Wireless for speeds tests can be affected by many things, signal strength, distance, modes and bands you are using. Stability of the wireless isn't the best thing for doing speed tests.

As for your errors, I've never seen any router with out errors over wireless. I grant you that errors should be kept to a minimum however again, alot of things can effect what is reported as errors by the router.

Are you experiencing any active connection issues with the router? I would see a problem if there are many errors with in a short period of time. Say 10000's errors and upwards with in 15 mins or less. I don't know how DLink processes this. Also you would probably notice connection, speed and surfing problems if this were the case.

I would give the logs more time to see how the errors do. I've seen errors on the WiFi since having this unit however have never been effected by them.  I would say if your error rate is low and it's not impeding any thing then the router is probably functioning correctly.

Try my suggestions yet?

i agree on doing speed test over wireless connection

but i wanted to see how the errors would show up

Ok, Ya your getting good speeds man.

Getting errors and dropped packets is just apart of the beast here. I've seen them and so have others. Like i said before, if your seen SOME errors over a period of time, thats seems to be the norm for these routers. However if you are seeing a ton of errors in a short period of time and your seeing problems while online, then something probably is going on.

I think your good man. Star using it. I enjoy mine Alot.

Hmm.. Not to sure about that. I might get a hold of HardHarry on here or take a look at the 655 router forum. I believe there has been some activity there using FIOS.

I don't have any experience with that.

I do enjoy the SB 6120 modem with this 4500 router though.  ;D

Let us know if you find any information on this that helps. Will come in handy here for future needs.

To answer your question; no. The 6120 is a cable modem, which means it uses a system called DOCSIS (Data over cable service interface specification) and DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) while FIOS uses FTTH (Fiber to the home) and PPPoE (but that can depend). To put simple, just not compatible.

When you get FIOS, they install a bunch of pieces of equipment that all work together to make all your services work. First they need to have fiber in your area, then they need to run fiber to your home (sometimes a mess). Then a piece of equipment on the outside of your house, a battery inside, cable boxes, a Actiontec modem/router combo, and a piece of equipment for your phone. My biggest complaint I always had was they required you to use their Actiontec combo unit. You can use your own router too, but that means dual NAT's. And if you have cable with them, you put the gateway into bridge (doing makes the cable boxes not fully work). In general, dual NAT= bad for online gaming. But if your looking for more info, check out this review. One of the first that came up in google.

just got mines the other day...hooked it up and it is pretty sweet..

is there anyway to optimize the modem?

damn we got the same set up. 

but i had verison fios the speed was fast but it was very spikey.  i was thinkin about switching back because of the prices.

overall i think my problems with lag has to do with the area i live in.  no matter how fast the internet speed is i will never have a that crystal clear connection that i dream of.

Kewl man, I do like things how its setup now. Sure enjoy the speed. I only pay for 10Mb down and 1 up here. It's about all I need.

Ya, lag sometimes comes from the area your in. If your on cable, seems that if there is a good amount of people around your neighborhood that uses cable internet, this can effect the traffic for sure. One draw back of cable. I live in a area with a few people I think that have cable so not fully effected. I don't think that I greatly since I believe my line runs out by back yard which there is the road and telephone polls and from what they said, I'm connected there and not in front like all the other houses on my street. LOL.

There isn't any thing you can do to optimize the modem. If your ISP supports DOCSIS 3, your RECEIVE light should be on steady BLUE. This means it's working at the highest supported connection speeds. Other than this, there isn't anything you can do to the modem. Only thing I have done is I use a 1 foot cable between it and the 4500.

Well only thing you could do is move to a more rural area that has cable.  ::)
