New to Port Forwarding
« on: January 13, 2009, 12:24:31 PM »

I am new to Port forward and would like to know how to properly set up my router for FTP access with a Buffalo LinkStation. I have already set up an account with DynDNS to cover not having a static IP. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My network configuration is as follows:

Cox cable Motorola modem
DLink DIR-655
Buffalo LinkStation (NAS)
MacBook Pro

Just explore the 'Virtual Server' page (http://192.168.0.1/Advanced/Virtual_Server.shtml) and the help pages will tell you all...

I set up the virtual server as described in the help files. How do I access my new FTP "site" outside of my home network? My DynDNS is setup as xxx.dnsdojo.org and my ftp port is set to 21 on public and private. I am not sure what I have to enter into the address bar of my remote computer.

If DynDNS is also configured in the DIR ánd the internet modem and if port 21 is also forwarded on the internet modem you can use your DynDNS address in the address bar (possibly it needs the be entered as xxx.dnsdojo.org:21)
