TEST SITE! (SMF+TP Forum hosted in DNS-323)
« on: January 14, 2009, 02:12:11 AM »

Hi,

After some time making test and configs I success hosting SMF+TP Forum in my DNS-323.

Using the dlinkddns.com service you can try mi site at:

http://than-sad.dlinkddns.com

I need to test how many people and resources can support the CPU and memory of DNS-323. My internet connection speeds= 12Mb/Down - 512Kb/Up

Finally I success to install phpMyAdmin  :D http://than-sad.dlinkddns.com/phpMyAdmin

Another question is, how secure is my DNS-323 from outside intrusions?

Best regards.
Than.

Wow really nice!! What software are you using and how difficult was it to set up? I can't believe you're running this on the dns-323!

Thankīs garyhgaryh  ;D

I use the Fun-Plug, and some packages from another web. The process isnīt really difficult, Iīm not a Linux expert.

After fun-plug install, you can acess to DNS-323 via shell (root), next, you should install webserver (lightppd), php with mysql, mysql and phpMyAdmin.

Please put your browser speed results in the poll  ;)
Best regards.

ya you still have access to all the dlink out of the box admin stuff. just google DNS323 wiki and there a whole community of people that "tweak" the DNS323 to get extra functionality

Quick question though,

Which MySql package did you download? The Linux (non RPM packages)?

Possibly a silly question, but could you run a mail server on it if you had your own site and set up the mx records? If I could then I might consider doing it and forgetting about paying for my hosting...

the dlink modderators don't really like or approve of people disscussing this sort of thing on this forum. what i would do is google dns323 wiki. do a search for php mysql. i believe the package by forre works with fonz funplug 0.5

Sorry, I can understand why - but the plain and simple is if this is fairly easy to install, I'll be buying another 323 for use as a mail/web server, so in the end - it's benefiting the product and the company...

that's really cool.  it's amazing everything works and fits within the tiny amount of RAM available in the 323.
