Shutting down after installing fun-plug?

Just installed fun-plug last week, and the only additional service I installed was vsftpd.  The last few days, the DNS-321 has been shutting down, well daily, about half a day or so after I get it back up.  When it does this I cannot just hit the power button and get it to come back on, I have to unplug the plug from the surge protector.  Unplugging the power brick from the back of the unit does not work, the brick itself has to be unplugged from the wall and let set a few minutes.  This has worked 3 times now.  Could fun-plug have anything to do with this?  Is my power brick failing?  Is it all just coincidence after using the 321 for well over a year?
