Restore a configuration
« on: February 17, 2011, 09:03:27 AM »

Hi all,
I have 2 dfl-800. One is running and all working ok. The second is on the shelve.
I want to configure the second firewall with the backup of the configuration file of the other dfl-800 so i have both firewalls with exactly same settings. Both have the same firmware (2.27.03.25-14780). I backup from the running one firewall and restore to the second one that has the factory defaults.
After saving the configuration i cant get to the firewall and it reverts to the previous configuration after times out without connecting again to the management web.
Any body know how to restore a configuration from one dfl-800 to another one?

Hi silver_surfer30

Yes, I am.

I backup from one dfl-800. Replace with the other one log-in restore and can't login again until the unit reverts to the previous configuration.

After many testings I have concluded that there is some bug that prevents from restoring the backup. This firmware or some specific configuration in my dfl-800 prevents from restoring. If I backup and restore configuration along with the core binary results in a bricked dfl-800, so i need to reset with back reset button.

People are restoring without problems backup configurations ?

As far as i'm using the devices never have such issue.
First be sure that the IP address of your configuration file is the same range than your pc.
You can connect to firewall using serial and reset from there.

What is the IP of the firewall on the backup file (can read it with notepad). What is the network of the firewall?

What is the IP of you PC ? the netmask ?
