So, after I got the permissions fixed on those pesky folders earlier, I thought it would be smooth sailing. Not so much.

When I connect to the drive as myself, I can mount Volume_1 without problems. I have set up another user on the drive, and added her to the users group on the users/group page.

Then I added her to the "Network Access" page under Advanced, where SMB access is set up.

The problem is that this list gets reset on reboot. Why is that and what can I do about it ?

After reboot only I remain in the list.

I have also tried adding the group "users" to the list. Same thing, a reboot resets the network access list.

I have even tried deleting both existing users, and adding a generic one we both can use. I added this generic user to the network access list and rebooted. Same thing, my - old, no longer existing account was back in the network access list.

Resetting to factory default will add a "ALL" entry to the list. I reboot, and my old account is back.

Sigh. I think it's time to finally get that old Xserve populated and configured.
