Any Problems Changing From RAID 1 To RAID 0?
« on: March 18, 2011, 12:45:00 PM »

I currently have 2-2TB HD's configured as RAID 1 and want to change to RAID 0. All data is backed up elsewhere, so I was wondering if I should expect any problems changing from RAID 1 to RAID 0?

Thanks for all responses

The IT guy of my office told me every RAID configuration, in every NAS, must be done at the very beginning otherwise it wipes off all datas when is changed...but I don't think is going to be a problem for you because you have everything backup somewhere else!

Just my $0.02 - forget about RAID0, there is no performance benefit to be gained, and you're doubling the chance of loosing your data should a drive fail.

RAID1 is for disk redundancy - NOT data backup - don't confuse the two.
