Mixing 4K and Traditional Drives with 1.10 firmware
« on: March 28, 2011, 10:22:41 PM »

I've have been running 2xWD5000AAKS drive for several years now and one has recently died. I upgraded my firmware to the 1.10b05 today and so far no problems with the single drive in there.

Not sure if this is a dumb question, but if I picked up a 2TB EARS drive, would I be able to run both the standard and the 4k drive at the same time? I would hope to Raid 1 the 500 GB Drive and JBOD the rest of the 2 TB drive; would that just be asking for trouble?

Reformatting both drives is no problem, I have my data backed up elsewhere.

If you reformat with 1.10 both drives will be aligned as 4K. So no there is no issue if you were to have a standard and a 4K drive.
