Deleting Video
« on: April 04, 2011, 04:18:49 AM »

How do I delete "old" video files?  I can wait for the system to overwrite but the seek times on the disc go up as the disc fills.  Since the SW only allows a max of 20% free disc space the performance of my machine slows down as the disc reaches about 1/3 free.  I'd like to remove files as I review them if I can figure it out.  I'm afraid to just delete files from the disc, there seems to be interdependencies between various parts of the software & the file structure that I'm afraid I'll wreck completely.  I'd rather NOT have to clean up & re-install.

Thanks

It is part of LOCAL backup... When in Console Mode it is part of the Settings (Gearbox-icon), select backup. It is also a stand-alone function (called Backup System), but then you need to log in separately.

When logged in into Backup, select New Period, and then select via UI, or manually set Start- and End-date/time. Then, select the Delete option. This will remove the footage and all related administration. You will then no longer be able to retrieve the footage.

Quickest is via Console, Settings, Backup....

Note: Delete is only allowed on Local Box, so not from remote... Backup is allowed everywhere. Also Playback has backup-functionality, but more limited than the 'real' backup. No delete, no multi-timelines, and a few more...
