Not able to FTP after number of hours
« on: April 05, 2011, 08:55:47 AM »

Hi

Has anyone encounter this before as I'm not able to FTP after power on for 6 hours (est.) or more?

I have tried, changing HDD timing longer but still the same untill reset your account password (consistence resolution). My FW is 2.01, HW is 1A.

Any advice? Thanks.

Are you FTPg to an external site or remotely?
What ISP service do you have?
What ISP modem do you have? Stand alone or built in router?
What FW is currently loaded on the 685?

How are you connecting? Wired or Wireless?
What wireless modes are you using if your wireless?
What FTP client are you using?

What happens if you use ISP DNS instead of DDNS?

What is the FW version currently loaded on the 685?
What OS versions are you using when FTPg?
Try a different OS to test?
Does FTPg using the same PC directly connecting to the ISP modem result in the same thing? Wonder if the ISP could be cutting you off after 6 hours.
This FTPg constant connection or spurious?

Is there a guest account for this router?

How about doing a factory reset of the router, don't load any saved configuration files to the router.
Turn off Wireless for now.
Set a static IP address in the router for one PC that you want to use. Disconnect all other devices.
Ensure Primary and 2ndary DNS addresses are filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual. Use ISP DNS to test first.
Check to see if DNS relay is enabled under Setup/Network settings. Enable it if it isn't.
Disable Advanced DNS Service if you have this option.
Disable any QoS or traffic shaping options.

Test FTP and see what happends. IF after all this, and you still seeing FTPg stop on the router, then this could be an issue that you and Dlink need to talk to about.

Let us know the results.
