Multiple Xbox 360's
« on: April 11, 2011, 08:50:28 PM »

I'll cut right to the chase.

I've searched and searched, and I haven't seen this particular issue. I've followed the directions from the sticky and still can't get this resolved.

I currently have two xbox 360's connected to the DGL-4500. Firmware is the latest. Both boxes can connect just fine, open NAT, no problems joining games, whatever. The problem arises when they try to talk to each other. I haven't changed any settings for a very long time (save for enabling Gamefuel and following the directions in the sticky) and both consoles used to work just fine together. I'm unable to join parties and games started by either console. Both have valid Xbox Live Gold accounts, paid up to two years in advance. Both boxes have stactic IP's and DNS addresses, and I've done the whole DHCP reservation thing for all devices on my network. Everything should work just fine.

Any ideas?

What ISP service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand alone or built in router?
How are you connecting to XBL? Wired or wireless?
What wireless modes are you using?
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What hardware version is the router? A1 or A2?

I would save off the current configuration to file, then do a factory reset of the router. Do not reload the config file. Go back in and set up reservations for the 2 xboxes and get them set up in gamefuel. Don't use Gaming settings.
Ensure Primary and 2ndary DNS IP addresses are filled in under Basic/Internet/Manual.
Ensure DNS Relay is enabled too under Basic/Network settings.
Disable Advanced DNS Service.

What cable speed package do you have? ##Mb Down and #Mb Up?

I'm using Time Warner Cable.

The modem is... I dunno. I wanna say it's a Motorola, but there's no logos or identifying brandings on the thing. It's the one that TWC gave me when I signed up for service. It's standalone.

One of the consoles is wired, the other is wireless.

Router is set to N only, 2.4Ghz.

Firmware is 1.23NA

Hardware version is the A2.

I'll do what you suggested and edit this post after I'm done.

EDIT: Worked like a charm. Thanks!

Kewl man...glad it worked. I would finish up setting up any other options that you want, then save off the configuration to a new file.

I know this matter has been resolved, but I have a few questions.  Why setup 2 gamefuel rules for the xboxes and not use them?  What does this do?  DNS relay why did that help?

Was it just DNS relay here, or the gamefuel settings plugged in a not being use?

If the gamefuel rules exist should gamefuel be turned off, or the rules themselves be off with gamefuel on?

Huh?  ???

Why don't you post this in a new thread so we can better help you with your question.
Not really sure I understand what your asking here. Why set up gamefule rules and not use them?

DNS relay helps to get DNS addresses to devices connected to the router. I some cases ISP DNS's do not get relayed properly to the devices. THis helps. You can turn this off if you have setup static DNS IP addresses on the devices.

" Go back in and set up reservations for the 2 xboxes and get them set up in gamefuel. Don't use Gaming settings."

I think it was a misunderstanding between Gaming (AKA port forwarding) and Gamefuel (aka QoS)

Furry, if you PM'd him the same screen capture of gamefuel rules as you did me, I believe he's asking about the GameFuel rules that you have created, but not enabled.
