** I know this post is in the DIR-615 forum.  No forum yet for the 815.  Thought someone here might be able to help.   **

I just bought a DIR-815 and wanted to upgrade the antenna's.   Unfortunately I can't figure out how to remove them.  Typically you can unscrew the antenna's on similar products.  But DIR-815's seem firmly attached.

Suggestions?

IT's possible that the antennas are not removable.

Yea, if they don't obviously unscrew, they are not removable. Atleast not in a way that is suggested unless you REALLLY know what your doing.

Antenna upgrades might be overkill anyway.    I've had the 815 up-and-running for several days now connecting over 802.11g and signal strength and link speeds are good.  Haven't tested much at 11a or 11n.

and if you need to relay or extend the wifi, can always get extenders to help out.

Antennas are not removeable which sux.  My old WRT54G router with the antennas I added to it gave it 35% better range & speed.  815 would be 75% better if the antennas were removeable. With the WRT54G I was getting 86% to 92% signal @ 54mbps now I am getting 66% to 74% signal @ 48mbps with 6 to 8 mbps slower on a speed test.

DLink has other model routers with removable antenna. Find a model that does.

Also your trying to compare apples to oranges. The Linksys routers of old don't probably have the "Good Neighbor Policy" that is now required in all Mfrs routers. So that effects some wireless performance seen across all WiFi.
