Router stops working.. Partially?

Ok, About 5 times a day for about 1-5 minutes 3 wan laptops are unable to browse.  I believe all are using windows 7 and unlike in times past in which I would lose internet but remain connected to the router an icon would appear indication good signal but there is no net connection available(which was usually an issue with the isp) this isn't happening with this current issue.  I also believe my hardwired xbox has some issues as well haven't done much testing on the xbox.  The strange thing about this, i am still connected on telnet with no noticeable issues.

I'm sure more information is needed, just tell me what you need to know. Thanks.

Hi leges and norbs,

What is your Router's Hardware Revision and Firmware being used?

Is your IP Addresses being assigned to the Computers and Devices, Static or Dynamic?

What is your operating system version, Service Pack Level? Version and Level are different.

I'm using 2.01n FW
Computers are Windows XP, Windows 7, MAC 0S 7, and Snow leopard.
(All computers up to date for updates)

Ips were dynamic, but set all to static still have the issue.

Hi norbs,

Static in the Router itself, not on the Computer, correct?

Are you sharing files between computers?

Have you configured Windows 7 Network and Sharing Center?

Hi thanks for reply, and sorry for delay.. had to go out of town.

My laptop is windows 7 home premium.  what unable to figure out what service level pack it was. (online tutorial said it should be on windows edition in system section but i see nothing there.) but we do receive windows updates regularly.

My Router is rev b1 firmware 2.00, i believe it is dynamic ip, however i'm not entirely sure how to tell.
seems devices are assigned ip xxx.xxx.x.100-199 dhcp is enabled i think that means it's dynamic.  The other 2 computers are also windows 7. I don't believe anyone is doing any network sharing.

Also a couple things i've thought of since my last post. After a reboot of the router i have seen a message about another computer on this network with the same ip address.  Also the router was setup through windows and not the provided install wizard.

The routers default IP address should be at 192.186.0.1. If theres another Device on the LAN side network with the same adderss, you'll probably see this message.

I would turn off ALL devices accept for one PC.
Hard wired pc to the router. Factory reset the router.
Go into Setup/Networking and set up static IP address for this pc. Select the Reserve work link.
Once this is done, do the same thing for the rest of the devices. Wired and wireless.
Make sure all devices are set up for Auto Obtain IP address on the devices, not manual static.

Set up wireless for Single mode G or N or Mixed G and N if you have any devices that support N.

Test...Let us know how it goes.

Hi leges,

First of all, you blocked out something that didn't need to be blocked out.
The Router's Internal IP Address is 192.168.0.1. The Dynamic Range is 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199.

The latest firmware for your Hardware Revision is 2.01 not 2.00 NA.

It is quite possible to have a computer with the same IP Address, if you had previously set a computer up with a Static IP Address and forgot about doing it.

Check all devices and change from Static to Dynamic at the computer and change from Dynamic to Static at the Router.

That will fix the problem. Also use the Network Filter.
