need help pleas

 ???i bought the ebr 2310 because i have a slow cable connection and figure any faster routers would be a waste considering my minimum cable connection. when i just connect my 2 computers and dont run the connection wizard there seems to be no change, but when i run the disk that came with the router and try to set up a network there seems to be a very noticeable ammount of lag. i think i need easy to follow guide on setting up a network because must be missing something in the setup procedure. please any help would be greatly appriciated, tyvm. :'(
