Cant play files from Ubuntu on the 323

I have an Ubuntu pc and have tried copying torrent avi's that should work to the upnp share on the dlink 323 but wont play as streaming content to my ps3, if I download the same torrent from a windows machine and copy the avi to a different location on the unpnp share it will play fine...I have done some searching but cant find anything that relates to this? any ideas? I really dont want to go back to windows.
