Firstly, NetMeeting isn't supported in Win 7. It wasn't officially part of Vista, but Microsoft released a KB article and patch to support NetMeeting 3.02 on Vista. The patch installer is no longer available from Microsoft, but you can find it using Google.
Secondly, I had hoped that placing the target XP laptop in my DIR-615's (h/w E3, f/w 5.10) DMZ would permit NetMeeting to work. No joy so far.
I simply can't bypass my buddy's router. It's a small biz with broadband supplied by Covad, and he'd hafta move his XP Pro SP3 desktop to a utility room to bypass his router.
My router doesn't offer NetMeeting as an application rule. I'll try open the port ranges in the portforwarding.com article to which you linked. If that doesn't work, I'll install TeamViewer. Too much time wasted on this already.
